Asking my always late friend to be my maid of honour
Hi guys, I wanted to get your opinions, especially from those who are married. I’m getting married next year and I’m currently thinking about the maid of honour situation.
For some context, my wedding will be in my home country while I currently live overseas, so I don’t really have a big friendship group or a “best friend” in that sense. I only have 2 close girlfriends.
One of them is already married and planning to have a baby, so she’s pretty much out of the question to be maid of honour. In our tradition, the maid of honour is usually unmarried, and there’s also a chance she may either be pregnant or have a young baby around the time of the wedding.
My second close friend is currently single, so I was planning to ask her. However, my biggest concern is that she is always late. No matter the occasion, she’s late every single time. It’s honestly stressing me out thinking she could potentially be late on my wedding day too, which makes me hesitant.
Should I still ask her and just hope for the best? Or should I just skip having a maid of honour altogether? I already have a wedding planner team, including someone specifically designated to support me throughout the wedding day, so going without one is definitely an option too.
