Range Questions (50 Ah)

Wife and I are loving the bikes, but we're both a little disappointed with the range/battery life. It's not great to feel range anxiety so early in a ride.

We've unlocked the ~55 kph mode so we can keep up with side road traffic when road travel is necessary. I'd guess we're leaning toward the higher end of that speed range most of the time. Here in NL there are also a lot of hills. I try and watch the throttle levels so I can coast as much as possible too. I'm a heavier guy, but my wife is about half my weight and her bike does a little better, but we still have to watch hers too.

I don't see any hard specs on battery range, but it seems 100-110 kms should be achievable with the 50 Ah battery. We've been getting 50-60 kms and I'm coming back with high 60s/low 70s volt ranges when under throttle. I don't know if I have 5 kms left in the tank, or 30 kms. I'm being extra cautious because I don't want to drain the battery far from home. If there's another 20+ kms on tap when in those voltage ranges, I'd be happy with that.

I've also read that the controller shuts the bike down at 64v. Is that when it hits 64v under throttle or while resting? Would it be cutting in and out when close to the end of a charge?

Road test with a Beachman 64?

Has anyone here used a Beachman 64 for a motorcycle license road test? Here in NL, it sits in a grey area. I asked DMV and my insurance company about registering it as an ATV/dirt bike, but neither liked that so it's a class 2 e-bike currently, both with DMV and my insurance coverage.

But I'm wondering if it would meet the requirements to be used to complete the road test for a motorcycle license. I'm thinking having a legally registered motorcycle is going to be a requirement that disqualifies the 64.

Transporting Two Beachmans

This is what I've come up with to transport my two 64 scramblers.

I already had the 4x7 utility trailer, so I added a couple extra anchor points with e-track accessories for Princess Auto (in the center of the trailer). I picked up the tie down straps and motorcycle wheel chocks there too.

This was a test fit before I trimmed the straps to length and actually do a road test. Seems to be holding the bikes pretty tightly.

Is anyone receiving bikes lately?

I ordered 2 on April 29 this year and still haven't gotten a shipping notice. Almost 10 weeks of waiting so far.

Charging on the go

While I'm waiting for my bikes to be built and delivered, I'm brain storming some on the go charging ideas.

I plan to add some bike mounts to a utility trailer, for bringing the bones to remote locations before starting our rides, and was going to run a 12v line from the trunk of the car to a charging box I'd keep on the trailer.

I have a 300W pure sine wave inverter, and I believe the trunk socket in the car will provide 100W. I was thinking I could just store the stock chargers in the secured box and have the bikes plugged in and charging while driving. It's not going to fully charge them quickly, but could be good for on the go top ups.

I was also wondering about EV charge stations. I believe I saw someone in the group with an EV charge socket mod on their bike. It made me think of a building a Y cable that could connect to an EV charger and split and convert the feed to charge both bikes quickly at the same time, if we happen to come across a free charge station.

Anyone with expertise in this able to comment on the issues that could arise?

As there's no electronic manual, I can't find out the power requirements for charging, or the specs for the fast charger.
