My lil mans

This is my baby boy Milo. I've had him for about 6 years now. 50% gremlin, 50% precious angel, 100% my favorite thing on this planet. Legitimately the sweetest and most loving cat ever.

I got him during covid. My girlfriend at the time got him when we moved in together but decided she didn't want him after we broke up so I kept him. He's been stuck to my side ever since

Building my first big ship

Hello fellow spacepeople. So I'm fairly new, I've maybe clocked around 80 hours and most of that has been me doing contracts and buying ships, plus a little bit of base building on an asteroid, basically just getting a feel for the mechanics and such. I decided I want to build my own large ship, but I seem to be struggling a little bit with how to go about it. I've build some small mining ships and such so far, nothing fancy looking but they are efficient and functional which is all I was going for at the time. However now I wanna go all out and build a nice fancy looking capital ship. Another issue is that I only have the base game as of now. I plan to get a couple dlcs when I get paid tomorrow and spend the weekend building the ship, but don't know which ones are the best to get for what I'm trying to go for.

So here I am, asking for some tips and tricks from the veterans of the game. I want this to be a mobile base of sorts. Able to stay away from my main base for extended periods while I explore and do contracts. I mainly just don't know where to start, should I build the core systems then build the ship around that? Or vice versa? I was going to go with ion thrusters because then I don't have to worry about hydrogen, but I know that hydrogen is significantly stronger, so still stuck on which one to commit to. As you can see I'm pretty confused lol so any insight is greatly appreciated.

Side note, where do you guys prefer to build your main base at and why? As I said I have a small base on an asteroid but I was considering building a large base on the Moon, not a huge fan of being on a large planet since getting off a planet seems to be significantly harder than getting off of a moon.
