Mini guide on training philosophies on Ladder

Just thought of making a mini guide on the actual philosophy of the teams. Teams do not purely follow these philosophies as they usually add in coach’s personal experiences and knowledge as well, but think of this as the base:

  1. Forged: Traditional body building. Slow and controlled weightlifting, with focus on hypertrophy rather than pure strength. (You could gain strength by focusing on 1 rep max and not doing sufficient volume. But Forged ensures you get sufficient volume).

  2. Resilient: Westside Barbell Conjugate System. It is a powerlifting program meant to help you max out compound lifts like squats, bench press, deadlift. It also does hypertrophy and other ancillary workout, but those lifts are designed in a way to aid you maxout compound lifts. The benefit is that you will build an overall strong and athletic body, and hitting compounds hard is bragging rights in the gym community.

  3. Vantage: Leanmaxing and Kinobody method. Meant on producing lean athletic physique. Mostly 3 days of workout with emphasis on recovery and diet. Focus on getting really good and hitting PRs on 5 lifts in total. Diet focused on sustainability and modern day city life. Also focus on holistic health such as vitamin d from the sun, hormone release from outside sprints, boosting leptin by eating treats.

  4. Crews Control: Functional fitness and Crossfit. Uses these philosophies, but it is not Crossfit. Crossfit has random workouts, Crews control takes movements from Crossfit and gives them a structure in a way you could progressively overload. It is way better than Crossfit for gains because it takes out the junk volume and randomness out of it.

  5. Varsity: College style athleticism program that will build strength and train fast twitch muscles. Great for people training for a sport like basketball, soccer, boxing etc.

I haven’t tested out most of the female teams so I don’t know much about them. But thought of sharing this so that people might be able to research more and understand the real philosophy behind workouts.

Understanding these philosophies was really helpful for me to choose my team because I was constantly confused about what to do. But once I researched more into these I got more clarity.

Team change for Max: Resilient v. Vantage

I am at Forged. While I love the gains and the programing, my biggest issue is that it takes way more time because of the constant machine swaps in a commercial gym.

I was looking to try Resilient or Vantage for Max. I am leaning more towards resilient, but the only thing is I am not sure how good it is for short term effectiveness. Like Forged was amazing in reload and I could see the gains. But resilient seems to be designed more for long term.

Anyways just wanted to get the reviews of people from these two teams to see how they felt overall.

Help me choose between Forged and Vantage

I work out in Planet Fitness. So the equipments are not an issue.

My issue is regarding the actual programing. I like the goals of Vantage more, but the kind of workout for Vantage seems more difficult for me to learn (I am terrible with anything involving body weight and would much rather prefer equipments), and also I feel like Forged would get me to build muscles faster.

Another thing is that I want to workout my core a lot more, and Vantage is better in that regard.

Is leaving the only option now?

Stomp walking upstairs neighbor who doesn’t give a fuck. He also has a kid who keeps on running all day and night. Neighbor did not disclose that the kid will be will him every other week to management and that is how he got a higher floor apartment.

Management spoke to him 2x. But doesn’t seem like he cares. I could bang the ceiling or do anything, and he would still just stomp like an elephant at night or just let his kid run a marathon.

I have white noise generators, ANC earphones with background noise. And I still get woken up at night.

Is there anything else left to do at this point or do I just give up?

Is God Is worth spending time on?

This week sucks for me and I am just going to rewatch Obsession along with Star Wars (Not really excited for that either).

Was wondering if Is God Is is worth it? The trailer was boring but I heard some good reviews. I trust you guys more than the occasional movie goers because there is usually a bias there (Only people who like the idea of the movie will go, unlike us who just go to different kinds of movies).
