God is a joke
I just came across some Christian videos where people are talking about how powerful God is. They show clips of people supposedly mocking God and then something happens, they get sick, pass out, get hurt, whatever and the comments are full of people praising God and saying things like “you don’t mock God.”
And I just sit there thinking… if God is supposedly so powerful that he immediately punishes someone for saying something disrespectful about him, where is that same energy for children getting murdered? Kids getting abused? People dying in wars? Starving? People begging for help?
So he ignores all of that, but if someone says something against him, suddenly he steps in? It just feels ridiculous to me.
The longer I’ve been away from Christianity, the more I notice things like this. I’m actually really thankful for my deconstruction journey because I feel like I see things differently now.
I think it also hits me personally because of things that happened in my own childhood. Looking at these ideas now, if God really is real, it sometimes feels like he cares more about defending himself than caring about people. And that thought honestly makes me angry.
