Chaol and Nesryn

Been reading ToD and I can't keep wondering. What even is the point od Chaol and Nesryn being a thing in the end of QoS, and the beginning of ToD.

She could've accompanied him to Torre Cesme as a friend as well.

SJM basically wrote no meaning and no warmth into their 'relationship' and, this way, it just makes him a bit of an asshole to flirt and admire Yrene that much while still being with her.

I love Chaol but come on man, get your shit together.

Spoilers ahead.

I am just wrapping up Empire of Storms, and while I did enjoy the book, I am finding myself more and more frustrated with the fact that Aelin always somehow magically figures it all out before everyone else does and takes steps towards the solution without telling anyone. Then there's always this a-ha moment where it's all explained (it also annoys me that it's explained and not shown - we don't really get a proper glimpse in Aelin's head at all).

And then by the time it's all revealed I've already pretty much forgotten how, in that one passage where you barely notice it, she secretly sneaks out to do something mysteriously described in two lines, which turns out to be a great deal in the end.

I also feel like it takes away a bit from human part of Aelin, and that part of personality that was Celeana. It kinda makes me feel like Aelin and Celeana are two completely different people, and not parts of the same woman.
