> 38 year old bottle of Beefeater

Still waiting on the provenance of this bottle, but my son acquired this 1.75 of 94 proof Beefeater for me.

Got a hold of a Leopold Bros

The Whiskey in Orlando has an insane selection. When I saw the Dickel collaboration, I knew what I was drinking. And I was NOT disappointed. Smells like caramel and goes through a plethora of beautiful flavors.

Maryland Trip (with an unexpected BONUS)

Previously, I posted about a visit to McClintock Distillery, but here are some more details about the trip and the gin and an unexpected surprise. We went to McClintock before we even went to the hotel. I'd say the tour is slightly above average, but their stills are GORGEOUS. They do a vapor infusion and if you check out the picture of the stills, you can see to the right of the column still the container where the botanicals are held during that process. We came out of there having tasted their entire product line and purchased their 3 pack of gin.

Wednesday that week was a whiskey blending class at Covalent Spirits in Westminster. There I had their magnificent Bee's Bouquet, a flight of their gins (not-pictured), and another delightful gin cocktail who's name eludes me because I was inebriated by that point and failed to write it down. It's the pretty magenta-ish one. That said, Drew does an excellent job serving.

We popped in to a little liquor store during the trip and I FOUND MY WHITE WHALE! Green Chartreuse was available and we scooped up a couple bottles of it to bring back to Florida. This stuff is amazing. I've never had something in which the taste not only lingers, but changes over time. REALLY looking forward to my first homemade Last Word tonight.

Cocktail in Frederick

My wife and I stopped by McClintock Distillery in Frederick, Maryland a couple days ago. We got the tour and tasted their entire product line. Bought a package of their 3 gins and then we stopped in their tasting room. I got the Chai Pear gin sour. While I wasn't a fan of the nose on this, the flavor was out of this world.

A full description of the gins will be forthcoming pending better sampling than a 1/4 oz tasting...

Bluecoat Botanicals

I purchased a bottle of Bluecoat in 2023 on the fascinating bottle, their presence in the US Gin Association, and a recommendation from a customer from Pennsylvania. I found it to have a HEAVY flavor that reminds me of pear skin. That's the best way I can describe it. The flavor cut through EVERYTHING I put it in. Regrettably, I hadn't yet started documenting the cocktails I was drinking with it at the time, so I can't be very specific in regards to mixers, but I digress. I had it again today on the rocks at a local place and there was the pear skin. It wasn't as prominent as I remember it in 2023, but it's still there, so it's definitely a botanical and not a bad run. Help me out. What is this botanical that I'm tasting?
