[Financial]Do I need to open a business bank account?

I am thinking to open a separate bank account as a sole proprietor. I havent sold anything yet but there is a potential customer.

And I dont think i'm will be able to sell my artworks regularly, so I wasnt sure if it is still necessary to open a business bank account or just a new personal checking account would be okay.

Is it weird not wanting to do oil painting?

I've been taking art classes and oil painting is considered for highest level class, and I am about to taking the class, but I told my teacher that I dont want to take the class with oil but keep doing water based mediums like watercolor, gouache, and acrylic as I found I didn't enjoy the drying process, and hard to do it without a good ventilation system at home when I tried it even though it does give beautiful results. It literally gave me headache.

My teacher is kind of pushing me to do the oil again as the class would mostly go with oil paintings but I don't see a problem using different medium or I don't mind not taking the class as I don't see I'd use oil paintings much in the future.

But it made me wonder if I am being too stubborn or weird about it..

Would you still recommend to give it another shot and try it again or just stick with what I want and keep practicing with it?

My teacher's point is that it is good to try all the medium as much as possible and to know how to deal with them, and oil is considered one of the highest quality art in this field.

I am not sure if I'm missing not trying it enough.

What size of statue would be good for life drawing?

I am planning to buy some statues for portrait drawing to practice life drawing at home, but I wasnt sure what size is usually big enough to practice. I found some 11 inches height statues online. Do you think they are big enough?

I haven't seen them in real so I don't know if that might feel too small.

I cant afford bigger ones that art studios have unfortunately.

I would appreciate if you can recommend any alternatives as well.

Can you build strong traditional art fundamentals without going to top-tier ateliers?

I see so many artists online, local galleries, and art festivals creating beautiful work with strong fundamentals.

So I was wondering if most of them studied at well-known ateliers, or it is also common for artists to reach this level through local art schools or self-study(I do think it'd be very difficult to achieve the level without mentors or any guidance tho) as well.

Since the core fundamentals of art are universal, do you think achieving that level of skill is realistic without attending a top-tier school?

What is the best way to practice portrait drawing from life?

Everyone empfhasize the importance of practicing with life - 3D sculptures, live models and etc.

But I cant have the sculptures and such at home.

So I just do it whenever I am at the studio but its inconsistent. .

I was thinking to buy Planar head models but they seemed too small to practice with and I dont have enough space to put them into my place even if I buy bigger ones.

Any other recommendations to practice from life?

Does hand measurement method actually help?

So I have been practicing portrait and still life drawing with 3d or live models everyday and my art teacher recommended to do hand measurement for correct proportion.

But I always end up correcting what looks right on my own anyway even if I do the measurement.

Honestly what works better and quicker is to just figure out the outline first, and then carve inside and correct the proportion without fully relying on the hand measurement.

I am not sure if I keep practicing the way my teacher recommend or if it is just one of the ways.

Matte framing on canvas panel?

I have watercolors on canvas panels, and trying to frame them.

I heard I can matte frame on the canvas panels by taping the panels on the back. But I wasn't sure about the backing.

Backing frame may not work because of the panel thickness.

Do you just put any paper to cover the back?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it possible to matte frame on an art thin board?

I have many paintings on the art thin boards for a show that I need to hang.

I heard that I can just matte frame and hang them with clips on the hook on the wall.

It sounds possible but I am not sure if the matte frame with a clip can handle the weight of the board when it is hung on the wall.
