OSHA Prevented Pulling Carts - Walmart is now Quietly Switching the Wheels - Contact OSHA

Earlier this year, Walmart attempted to direct OGP workers to start pulling carts instead of pushing them. This followed major class action litigation involving employees hitting customers with carts. The guidance ultimately resulted in OSHA stepping in and Walmart reversing the policy.

That only happened because so many associates took the time to contact OSHA and report what was happening. It became such a significant issue that it was covered by major business publications, including Business Insider. If you're interested, you can read about it here:

Now it appears Walmart is making another end run around that intervention.

At my store, the front and rear cart wheels have been swapped, making the carts effectively impossible to push. They wobble all over the aisle, crashing into products and other carts. Associates are effectively forced to walk around to the front of the cart and pull them instead.

What makes this even more concerning is that the cart manufacturer places warning labels on the carts instructing that they are not to be tampered with or altered. Yet these carts have been modified anyway. I've now seen report after report in this subreddit from associates across the country describing the exact same wheel swap.

We already proved that our voices matter. OSHA acted because associates spoke up and documented what was happening.

If you're experiencing the same issue, please take a few minutes to file a report with OSHA. Every report helps establish the scope of the problem and gives OSHA the information it needs to investigate.

OGP continues to grow, but that growth should never come at the expense of employee safety.

REPORT. REPORT. REPORT.

We made a difference once. We can do it again.
