Warranty Trade In/Discount Program

I was not aware of the program Canon offering a reduction on the price of new equipment in lieu of getting warranty work done through them. I found the program when I was debating getting my 6D mark iifixed (it had a fight with gravity, and gravity won). Since a skilled tech had tried to fix it once (hats off to Phototronic in Topeka, who is magic with everything else new and old), I wasn't feeling optimistic about the odds of an actual fix. So when I read that you can get a %age off on a new body (grabbed a second R6), I did that instead. Went ahead and also replaced the lens that had the misfortune of being with the body when gravity won the day. The lens was old enough that they wouldn't accept it for repair, but it still worked for the discount. Same program: 10% off of sale prices, or 20% off regular list price. I believe that may vary based on the equipment.

Anyway, they both arrived last week. It was a painless process. They are in my portal with all the rest of my equipment. You have to "sacrifice" the SN on the equipment that you are using for the program, but that's it. Otherwise they take the SN from you, your CC number, and place the order directly with them.

So if you are sitting around with something broken, and wondering what to do about it, here's an option. Since I had a local repair guy until I moved here, I hadn't really spent any time on the Canon site in the repair spaces and had missed that this was available. And I thought maybe someone else was in the same boat. Happy shooting...

Photogs: Good Prints

Hello photographers. I don't care if you make money from it or not, just if you are picky. Where are you getting your prints made? Anywhere local? If I am going to send them off I know where to go, but would prefer to go local if possible. Thanks!
