Planning Mechanical Engineering in Italy (PoliMi vs PoliTo) + Germany Masters plan. Need advice!

Hey everyone,

I am an international student planning to pursue a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in Italy (in English) and later move to Germany for a Master's.

I have a few quick questions and would really appreciate any insights:

PoliMi vs PoliTo vs UniBo: Which one is better for Mechanical UG in terms of practical exposure and future scope in Europe?

CEnT-S Exam: Can anyone clarify how competitive this new exam is for international students? Any tips on preparation?

The Germany Plan: Will completing my Bachelor's in Italy allow a smooth credit transfer for a Master's in Germany?

Scholarships & Part-time: Is it risky to solely rely on regional scholarships (EDISU/DSU) due to payout delays? How tough is it to find part-time work without fluent Italian?

Would love to hear from anyone who has taken this route. Thanks in advance!

Looking for advice: English-taught Mechanical Engineering Bachelors in Italy (and moving to Germany for Masters later)

Hey everyone,

I’m an international student planning to pursue my Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering in Italy, fully taught in English. I’m currently looking into universities and had a few specific questions.

First, I wanted to know which universities are actually best for a Mechanical UG program? I’ve heard a lot about PoliTo and PoliMi, but I also came across options like the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and UniBo (Forlì campus).

Since I plan to move to Germany for my Master's after finishing my Bachelor's in Italy, which university or region would give me a better foundation and smoother credit transfer? I know regions like Emilia-Romagna and Piemonte are huge for the automotive industry—does studying there actually help with local internships during UG?

Also, can anyone clarify how the new CEnT-S exam works for admissions now? Is it very competitive for international students to clear?

Lastly, I’d love some honest feedback from students who moved from Asia/India. What are the biggest cultural shocks or practical struggles (like bureaucracy, housing, or finding part-time work without fluent Italian)? Is relying on regional scholarships risky due to payout delays?

Would really appreciate any insights or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!
