Seeking an authentic, offbeat homestay to experience true Sikkimese culture 🏔️
Hey r/sikkim, I'm a 21M traveling up from Delhi soon, and I'm looking to completely skip the commercial hotels and resorts. I want to stay in a traditional home in a quiet, offbeat village to genuinely experience local Sikkimese culture, hospitality, and daily life. I'm not looking for luxury—just a welcoming host family where I can learn about their traditions, explore the surrounding nature, and share meals. I'm open to anywhere in the state (North, West, South, or East). Just a quick logistical note: I follow a strict vegetarian and eggless diet, so I'm hoping to find a family that is comfortable accommodating that for home-cooked meals! Does anyone have recommendations for specific villages, hidden gems, or direct contacts for hosts?
