Supreme Court on Aug 7 dismissed a petition by a lawyer seeking registration of a FIR and a court-monitored probe by a SIT into the infamous “burnt currency” incident involving former Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Varma.

The scenes from Jantar Mantar over the past few days have once again raised an important question about student politics in India.

Many students are protesting over issues they believe directly affect their future, yet I haven't seen visible involvement from ABVP. Since ABVP presents itself as one of the largest student organizations in the country, shouldn't it be standing with students on issues that concern them, irrespective of political considerations?

If ABVP has taken a position or is actively participating, I'd genuinely like to know. If not, why the silence? Is there an official statement explaining their stance?

This isn't meant to target any particular organization. The same question should be asked of every student body: when students are on the streets raising concerns, shouldn't student organizations be there to represent them?

Looking forward to hearing different perspectives and any factual updates.
