Do We Need a New Political Ideology for India’s Youth? — “Udayবাদ / Udayvaad” Discussion
For decades Indian politics has mostly revolved around old ideological frameworks — socialism, caste blocs, religious polarization, dynasty politics, extreme nationalism, or pure populism.
But Gen Z grew up in a completely different India:
- internet-first,
- ambitious,
- culturally rooted,
- startup-minded,
- frustrated with corruption,
- and obsessed with growth, identity, and execution.
So what comes next?
What if there was a modern civic-national ideology focused on:
- development before drama,
- discipline before chaos,
- technology + governance,
- cultural confidence without hate,
- youth leadership,
- local problem-solving,
- and national rise?
Something that is not old-left or old-right.
Not revolution for destruction.
But national renewal.
A kind of “Neo Nation Doctrine”.
Or in Bengali: “উদয়বাদ / Udayবাদ” — the ideology of national rise.
Core ideas could be:
- Civic responsibility
- Strong institutions
- Youth-led governance
- Clean cities & systems
- Economic growth
- Cultural preservation
- Merit + discipline
- Digital democracy
- Execution over speeches
Not asking people to agree.
Just genuinely asking:
Does India need a completely new political ideology for the next generation?
And if yes — what should it stand for?

We need to Protest
CU is a fucking joke.
The whole Semester 6 situation at the University of Calcutta has become extremely stressful for students because the final exams are starting from 9th June, yet we barely got around three months to prepare properly. Under the new CCF/NEP system, everything already felt rushed — classes started late, syllabi were not completed on time in many colleges, and students were constantly dealing with confusion regarding exam schedules, exit options, supplementary exams, and Semester 7 continuation. On top of that, Semester 6 is the final semester for many students, which directly affects graduation, higher studies, and job opportunities. Instead of getting enough time to revise and prepare calmly, students are being pushed into exams under immense academic pressure and uncertainty.
Any ideas how we can protest? They postponed the sem 3 exams too this year after mass protesting by students.
I came across this screenshot on social media today and it honestly moved me. In a time when we see so much divisive news, seeing a message like this deeply rooted in empathy and communal harmony is incredibly powerful.
For those who don't read Bengali, the poster features a young man named Milan Ghosh, described as a simple, straightforward guy from the community who appears to be going through a massive crisis or period of distress.
The Bengali text translates to a very profound appeal:
"We aren't doing the cattle sacrifice (Qurbani), let that money instead be donated to this young man. Let local people visit his house, speak to him, and share his name, address, and bank account details on social media. Let us all stand by his side."
The top caption reads: "Amader khoma koro bhai please 🙏" (Please forgive us, brother).
The Core Crisis: Milan needed to sell his cattle urgently to gather money for his sister's wedding expenses, but he found no buyers, leaving him emotionally and financially broken.
The Boys finale dropped today. What did you think of it? Did it live up to your expectations or not?
Some moments were absolutely insane, while a few felt rushed. Curious to know where everyone stands after that ending.
Which cafe is this?
I've tried Googling, asking different AIs but it came to be of no use. Does anyone know where this is at? I'm massively into white themed cafes and the aesthetics here seems so appealing.
I have some unpopular opinion
So, Abhaya's mother won the election and became MLA of Panihati. No doubt it is poetic justice. But I have some opinion on this matter! This is just my opinion....so don't hate me🙏
Firstly, people need to win elections to get justice! If some mishap happens to my close ones, I can’t get justice without supporting the opposition side (bjp was the opposition in 2024), or without trusting their beliefs and ideology. Aren’t we setting dangerous benchmarks like this?
Secondly, the system is not neutral! If I need justice, I have to wait for the government to change, and only then can I get justice. So, if the same mishap happens again during a bjp government, this system may again do nothing, and people will have to wait for another political change. And please don’t tell me this can never happen under BJP rule, because I don’t blindly trust any political party when it comes to women’s safety.
And finally, what about the people of Panihati? I understand that many voted emotionally. But an MLA’s job is not only to seek justice, it is also to work for the development of the area. So, for the next five years, will the people of Panihati only focus on seeking justice instead of development?
Continuation of my previous post... Experience in Blinkit dark store
Link to my previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/KolkataLife/s/sxqiqaatVJ
Got a 1-star rating from the store manager today as a new Blinkit picker and honestly it messed with my head more than I expected.
This is literally my first week doing this job part-time for some side income. I’m still trying to remember racks, understand routes, control panic during live orders and adapt to the speed of the floor.
But the environment feels like there’s no beginner phase at all.
The moment live orders start:
- timers everywhere,
- nonstop pressure,
- people rushing,
- manager focused only on PPI,
- constant “faster faster faster.”
And somehow beginners are expected to perform almost like people who’ve probably picked thousands of orders already.
What frustrates me most is that I KNOW my brain is learning the store slowly.
After coming home I suddenly remember:
“Oh yeah, that item was near beverages beside biscuits.”
But during rush hour the brain just overloads sometimes.
Still got hit with that 1-star rating like I’m supposed to become a speed machine in few days 💀
Now I’m overthinking everything:
- Am I actually too slow?
- Is this normal for beginners?
- Or is quick-commerce work culture just this brutal?
Weird part is… despite all this frustration, I can still feel muscle memory slowly developing.
So now I’m stuck between:
“I’m improving slowly”
and
“Maybe this environment doesn’t care about slow improvement at all.”

Why is the LPG cylinder booking process extended so much?
So booked Indane on 8th May, received cylinder today, after 12 days. Now it says we can book again on 15th June. So cylinder we will get around 25th June.
Aside from the issue of stretching the gas usage to more than a month, earlier we use to order every month around 1to5th and used to receive cylinder after 1 week. Now the booking day is stretching every month.
