My father in law has spent almost 5 decades successfully running his own firm. What would be a meaningful gift for a retiring lawyer (that maybe would be especially befitting of a lawyer)?

Watching Narcos seasons 1-3 and various conjugations of what my ear tells me is “quebrar” seem to be used to mean “kill.” I’ve only ever heard matar for this. Am I hearing the show right?
