Metro - vLine transfers
Can someone explain to me why the Sunshine and Footscray stations are set up to maximise the amount of effort/time required to transfer between vline and metro services.
The train are set up so no 2 trains that transfer to each other are on the same platform you always need to go up and cross the bridge.
Whats more since there’s 2 stations that can swap between the metro and vline trains you can set one up for each direction.
Have one of the stations have the outbound from Melb services share the central platform to make transfers easier during peak times and for people with access difficulties, and the other station can have the inbound services.
Now the obvious answer is it would be too difficult to switch the tracks to move the trains between outside and inside tracks. This is bull, they do it constantly for express trains to overtake other trains.
So is it just incompetence, or malicious intent that they designed it in the least efficient way possible?
