Hi! I started taking metformin in May due to insulin resistance and elevated AMH levels.
Before taking metformin, my menstrual cycle was regular. Since starting it, I’ve been getting my period only once every two months.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? My other hormone levels are normal (LH, FSH, estradiol, progesterone, and thyroid hormones).

Today I had my first EMDR session after spending years and years in therapy (systemic, cognitive behavioral, and integrative), without much success. In fact, I often felt retraumatized by having to talk about my trauma over and over again.
My trauma is related to childhood s\*xual abuse that occurred within my family, as well as the first years of my life, which I spent in hospitals because of serious medical conditions. I was left with CPTSD.
I don’t experience random flashbacks or obvious triggers. Instead, my anxiety and traumatic memories are like something sticky that follows me every single day. They are constantly running in the background of my mind, no matter what I’m doing or how exhausted I am. They are the background soundtrack of my life.
As I mentioned, I had my first EMDR session today. At first, the technique of following the therapist’s fingers with my eyes seemed a bit suspicious to me. However, after the session, I was left with an overwhelming sense of calm. Today I didn’t ruminate at all. I didn’t think about catastrophic scenarios, and I didn’t feel like I was in danger.
I should also mention that I’m currently taking medication for anxiety (Xanax and Cipralex), which helps keep me functioning but has never gotten rid of that constant background of traumatic memories playing in my mind.
Is it possible to feel this much better—this mentally and emotionally calm—after just one EMDR session? Or is it more likely to be a placebo effect?

Hi, could you please tell me if metformin causes menstrual irregularities? This is my first month taking metformin, and my period is 21 days late. I’m not pregnant. My last period started on May 6, on day 16 of my cycle, so it was actually much earlier than usual. I should mention that I generally have a regular cycle of around 30–32 days. Thank you.
