Grieving my inability to nurse
My baby was born 6 weeks premature and had a 6 day NICU stay. She was so sleepy and couldn’t latch well, let alone stay on to feed. She is 3 months now, we have seen an ENT, an SLP, two lactation consultants, an infant chiropractor, and had her buckles, lip, and tongue ties released by a pediatric dentist, and still see no progress with her nursing. There are three women in my life who gave birth around the same time I did and can nurse their babies great. I’m EP and some days I am fine and am grateful for having the routine down, but I will randomly break down other days because I get sent a photo from a friend nursing her baby or I see videos of women nursing their babies. I wish I was able to nurse.
