Are light novels rapidly growing in the west?
I’ve heard that Japanese light novels are more popular in east Asia in Chinese and Korean. Can anyone confirm this and if so, will we ever get as large?

Is there any western equivalent to light novels. I’m mostly referring to the illustration aspect of light novels more than anything here.
This is mostly referring to the paper quality and the “neatness” of Japanese volumes. The sheer amount of pleasure I feel just touching and flipping through a Japanese volume compared to an English volume is insurmountable. Not only does the paper feel nicer, but they also come with a neat little paper dust jacket that just wraps around your hands so comfortably when handling the book. I wish that the English publishers would follow the Japanese book format instead of their large trade paperback size with no comfy dust jacket. The only English translation company that got even close to this quality is JNovelClub.
I’ve already read all of Mei Hachimoku’s season novels and Re:zero. Any other recommendations for series. I would prefer if they took place in a modern setting over fantasy.
Can anyone tell me which LN series seven seas published in bunkobon format back in the early 2000s.
Why does Overlord and The Isolaters get hardcovers over other series like SAO or Oregairu. What is the decision making process that leads to these conclusions.
I like how most of them have character designs.
I’m a collector so I always go physical unless I’m reading a web novel or rare LN’s
I was looking at Index and was honestly surprised that volume 7 was so hard to find. Isn’t Index one of the most popular light novel series? Will they ever print it again? This is also an issue for other series like Accel world, The Empty Box of Zareth Maria and Durarara!!
