Apistogramma help
Hi all! I've got a pair of apistogramma macmasteri that I just added to a tank like, minutes ago, and shortly after I added them in, they began tail slapping each other and forming T shapes. I've read that this means courting behavior, but what puzzles me is that:
They were not doing this before other than previously lip locking last weekend so why the sudden fire up?
The T shape seems to be in the wrong orientation from what I've read? It's been the male putting himself at the head of the female
Another note, the female does not look ready to breed to me (doesn't look very plump, not yellow and darkened after being added to the tank) but still seems receptive to the male? (Tail slapping him back, going out to find him after he swims away) They were just fed bbs earlier if that's worth anything
Any help is appreciated, TIA!
