Hi! I had a belly ring for around a year. It got infected and was looking pretty gnarly. My boyfriend’s BIL is a nurse. His BIL and my doctor said I should take it out due to the potential risks caused by the infection. I’ve let it heal for the past few months and got the infection treated. Since then, I’ve been thinking about getting a new navel piercing. I was wondering what I should expect, how long to wait (it’s been around six months since I took the jewelry out), if the new piercing will be more painful (someone told me it’s more painful the second time around), and what kind of maintenance I should keep now?
