I spent 3 months analyzing why small accounts plateau — here's the pattern nobody talks about
If you've been stuck under 1,000 followers for a while, I want to tell you it's probably not your content.
I know that sounds counterintuitive. You're posting consistently. You've watched the tutorials. You've tried the trending sounds and the hashtag stacks. And yet — nothing moves.
After digging into this for months, the real culprit is almost always the same thing: your account is sending mixed signals to the algorithm about who it's for. Not bad content. Mixed signals. There's a difference, and it changes everything about how you fix it.
A few things that actually move the needle that most guides skip over:
- Your first 5 posts act as a "first impression" every time someone new visits your profile — most people's are working against them
- Follower count is a lagging indicator; the metric to watch 6 weeks before growth happens is something else entirely
- The "post more" advice actively hurts accounts under 1K in certain niches
I put everything I've learned into an ebook — "Stuck Under 1K? The Real Reason Your Account Stopped Growing. And How to Fix It" — because I was tired of seeing the same recycled advice that doesn't account for where you actually are in the growth curve.
If you're in that frustrating plateau, it might be worth a read. Happy to answer questions in the comments too.
