My first try with shadows and highlights I like it but maybe you have some tips for improvement.

I use basic cheap synthetic brushes and Vallejo color. I had to do many layers to get this far but now the red has a slightly "dirty' red /black mix. Should i highlight the middle from the single plaits again with pure red to give them a new bright red look or those this fuck it up again? I hope you get what I mean
