Proposing to my boyfriend - yes or no?

Hey guys!
I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years now and he is wonderful! We have been living together since 3 years, have cats and a really settled, nice life.
We talked about everything that matters and agree on all things.
We have even talked about getting married someday.

Now we will be off for vacation soon and on an our anniversary in a very special place to us. Like a dream spot we always wanted to go and now we are finally going.

So I was like in my mind… hey this would be such a great day and spot to get engaged. Like would make the day even more perfect and meaningful. And then I thought.. okay he is sometimes everywhere with his mind and not so creative that I think he might won’t even get the idea that this could be a potential spot. He is really cute but sometimes his head is elsewhere when it comes to things 😁 (not in the daily life.. he cleans, cooks, takes care of things. It’s not like I am having to take responsiblitlies.). He had only two short relationships before me and used to live alone. So I am really lucky here. But with romance somtimes .. well. He even said if he asked me he would become so nervous he believes he would just let it slip out out of nowhere .. like when we are very close cuddling or whatever when he feels comfy. (Have to note here, i don’t wanna have a ring. I am not a ring girl and I don’t like spending bunch of money on something like that. I told him that too, when we had those talks).

Well short story long I thought about proposing myself. I got creative and got us bracelets carved with the dates and coordinates and everything.

But now I am getting nervous. Not because I am not sure about that I really wanna marry my man, but I just noticed how deeply in me it is that the man should propose (though I think that’s old fashioned and doesn’t need to be). So now I am having question marks…

What do you guys think? Let it to him and just wait for it or just do it as I believe we are ready for it, nothing will really change, we talked about ideas on how we would like to get married some day and all the important stuff like children, money etc is talked through. We are also not young but on our early thirties.
