According to the Reddit that I posted, SS Rajamouli stated that the movie will be like Indiana Jones, along with Dan Brown's novel served as inspiration as well. I went through his books and I think the book that is closest to the story of Varanasi is "Deception Point". It was published in 2001. The premise of this novel is "NASA discovery of a meteorite in the Arctic that contains evidence of extraterrestrial life, which is later revealed to be a massive hoax orchestrated by a shadowy figure to influence a presidential election, forcing White House intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and oceanographer Michael Tolland to uncover the truth while on the run from assassins".

1. NASA discovery of a meteorite in the Arctic: Similar to what is shown in the glimpse where the astreroid gets fall/transitioned into the Ross Ice Shelf.

2. Which is later revealed to be a massive hoax orchestrated by a shadowy figure to influence a presidential election: Could be Kumba's plan to use Rudra and Mandakini to help with his plan.

3. Forcing White House intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and oceanographer Michael Tolland to uncover the truth while on the run from assassins": Rudhra and Mandakini would work together to stop Kumba and his hechmen from his evil plans.

In an old interview before the Varanasi movie was announced, SS Rajamouli mentioned that this movie would be inspired by Indiana Jones, dan brown's novels, and so forth. There is one novel by Dan Brown that is quite similar to the actual plot of Varanasi. This novel is called The Secret of Secrets. I will compare how this novel will serve as inspiration for SS Rajamouli's Varanasi.
