I found this article where certain movies inspired couple SS Rajamouli's films, mainly the action sequences. Wonder what influences SS Rajamouli might use for Varanasi?
According to imdb, Gogita Chikvaidze is marked as "making of documentary director" in the Publicity section in Varanasi imdb page. Based on the information, I'm asusming that their making a documentary regarding the making/information of this film as releasing it during the promotions or after the release of Varanasi 2027.

I belive that the kind of ship shown in the concept art in the Antarctica sequence is an icebreaker. An icebreaker is a kind of vessel that is used to navigate through ice covered water. I believe that the people on that ship are trying to find to the Ross Ice Shelf with the ship using the icebreaker to travel and maybe try to break the Ross Ice Shelf by using the icebreaker. Just a theory that I made.
I believe that the Antarctica sequence based on an real incident because most of this film is based on real histroical events such as Lanka nagaram - 7200 BCE India 512 CE, and so forth but the main plot and narrative is fictional. I did some researching and found the Ross expedition which is an expedition takes place from 1839 to 1843. There were two ships HMS Erebus (1826) and HMS Terror (1813). Both were warships similar structure to what is shown in the glimpe in my point of view. What could the villian probably want from that ship?

SS Rajamouli used this concept for two of his movies, Magadheera and Eega. I believe that the Ramayana sequence is considered a reincarnation of where lord rama=rudhra and kumbhakarna=kumbha. There is a huge connection between how Kumbhakarna lost his arms and legs and how Kumbha can't walk. "Revenge" plays a huge role in SS Rajamouli's movies between the hero and the villains.

I went through his books and I think the book that is closest to the story of Varanasi is "Deception Point". It was published in 2001. The premise of this novel is "NASA discovery of a meteorite in the Arctic that contains evidence of extraterrestrial life, which is later revealed to be a massive hoax orchestrated by a shadowy figure to influence a presidential election, forcing White House intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and oceanographer Michael Tolland to uncover the truth while on the run from assassins".

There is one novel by Dan Brown that is quite similar to the actual plot of Varanasi. This novel is called The Secret of Secrets. I will compare how this novel will serve as inspiration for SS Rajamouli's Varanasi.
