Is the "Gunsmoke Bandit" real?

So I'm a huge Bandit fan. Have played every model from the OG Solo Series up to the Cyclops Bandits being made today.

I think we've all seen the "evolution" posts talking about the Bandits changes through its production. I have yet to see anything other than the black and white photo of the "Gunsmoke" Bandit. Did it actually exist?

I have a feeling it was a prototype and used for advertisement. But if im wrong, I would love to know.

Memphis Lawsuit Era LP

Recently snagged this Memphis MIJ Les Paul for $20. I'm currently in the process of a "revival" to get it playing, but I'm genuinely confused. Memphis seems to mostly be cheap, plywood, bolt on necks. This one is far from that. It's solid wood, full thickness maple cap, perloid inlay instead of silk screen, acorn nut truss rod, and feels phenomenal in the hand. It shows it age, but all in all, it's there. It feels everybit as solid and quality as my 86 Studio. Haven't gotten it put together to get a sound yet, so the verdict is still out on that

What is known about these nice Memphis Les Pauls? Who made them, what years? I can't find much online. Any help is appreciated!

Do I know enough?

I'm 27 and work at a smaller shop, making $27/hr (which I know is above what a lot of people make) but I was hired on to learn to be a machinist, but the last 4 years I've been relegated to only running a waterjet. I know how to use precision measuring equipment, and I've taught myself a little bit on smaller manual machines, but I am by no means proficient. I've also snuck in trying to figure out Mazatrol on lathes while being a button pusher for high production parts.

My shop has no interest in giving me proper training in CAD/CAM, deep dives in Mazatrol, or any other kind of training. I've asked repeatedly, and it always just comes back to "we need you on the waterjet.

What's the expectation if I apply as a "Machinist" elsewhere. I have 4 years on paper, but probably less than a year in practice.

How screwed am I?
