Thick Strings

I've been running super slinkys (9-42) on my custom for a while now but plan to experiment and jump to burly slinkys (11-48) Is there any set up adjustments I should do when using thicker strings?

Help me mod my ‘rare’ 07 Chameleon Les Paul “Custom Shop”

Absolutely love this thing. Marketplace find a few years back, it was second one I’ve ever seen (after the other guitarist in my high school band).

Whilst just a tarted up Studio (w a ‘Custom Shop’ logo on the headstock?) it’s got a nice neck, Grovers, and now a Tusq XL nut so is a great gigger.

To mod:
- My knobs fall off so those need changing; want something that’ll complement the paint, rather than give it a vajazzle.

- Stuck a Suhr Doug Aldrich (raw nickel) in the bridge which screaaaaams. Getting the neck pup too but tempted to go for a different colour.

Hear me out: since seeing a cheap 2nd hand Suhr DA in gold I’ve got it into my head that it’d be hilarious to chuck in mismatched. Talk me out of it.

- new Truss Rod cover could be fun

- will probs do a coil tap one day

What would you do if this was your axe?

Ginza Les Paul Artist

Hi!

I received my first guitar 4 months ago, it's this thing, a "Ginza Les Paul Artist". My dad found it on a second hand market in Sweden were he bought it in the early 90s. He never played it, so it has been collecting dust for about 35 years.

All i know about it is that it's a 70s Japan lawsuit guitar. If you have more info on this guitar I really liked to know about it! And I really want to hear your opinion on it!

Genuine question

I’m looking to buy a Les Paul Junior and can’t decide between a Gibson LP Jr or an Epiphone Jr. I can get the Epiphone PLEK’d and set up for $850 or I can get the Gibson but no money for PLEK and set up.

If anyone has tried both which did you prefer and why? I’ll be playing mostly punk rock.

Les Paul Custom Shop Ted Turner request for information

Hi everyone. A family member of mine has this Les Paul with a Custom Shop stamp and a Ted Turner signature. I’m struggling to find much information about it. If you know anything let me know.

Studio 1996 - love / hate but not sure why

I think the frets are too high but I don’t have a comparison - studio gold hardware / claret - I really want to love this 30 year old guitar I’ve had 20 years , but it hurts my fingers

NGD! Straight from Japan to Canada, my Les Paul Standard 50s.

Just got this in from Japan after waiting about two weeks since I ordered it and it’s amazing.

I’ve always wanted one but the ones in stores near me were all wall hangers with really tan coloured fretboards (I love me a dark rosewood!) and I didn’t want to order one sight unseen.
So I went on digimart.net and found this beauty. Since they can directly sell them to people in North America, I had to use a proxy service called Zenmarket to buy it. The best part is, I saved $700, even after taxes and shipping, from buying a new one from here in Canada. It sounds awesome and looks amazing too!

Nothing like a Les Paul Standard

Had this one a couple years, haven’t changed a thing, all stock. Love the tone in this guitar for classic rock.

NGD: Les Paul Deluxe 70s

In wine red. Perfect - sounds and plays very different to my 50s Standard and 50s Warren Cherry Red. I am now complete.

Black beauty with a vintage soul. Dropped a set of Seth Lovers into my Epiphone Les Paul Custom IBG and can't wait to blast it through the JCM 800.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share a shot of my Epiphone Les Paul Custom (Inspired by Gibson). You can't go wrong with the classic black finish, but I decided to take it a step further and upgraded it with a set of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbuckers.
The unpotted, vintage PAF character of the Seth Lovers gives this guitar an incredible warmth and open dynamics. I'm using it a lot lately for ambient and worship tracking because that top-end clarity cuts beautifully through thick layers of delays and reverbs. I honestly can’t wait to fire up my Marshall JCM 800 and see how these unpotted pickups push the tubes and react to the natural grit of the amp!
For the gear and modding fans here:
Have you ever tried vintage-voiced PAFs for ambient or melodic rock tracking?
What's your go-to amp setup when you want to make a modded Les Paul really sing?
Let me know what you think of the rig and the pickup choice! 🎸🌌

1980 silverburst frets

I’m thinking these are the original frets. The bottom ones are looking like nuts. The action is so low you could not use a pick. If I put new frets on, I am worried it will be totally different. Should I leave this thing alone?

Clean success.

Virtuoso cleaner and Nomad polish with microfiber cloths did a pretty good job with a lot of arm work. Thanks for the replies. I think you have to jump through hoops to add a photo.

NGM

I work for a French retail group that sells many things : books, video games, movies, appliances... and music gear. I am in charge of the music instruments department specifically. I was eligible to discounts on a few guitars, and one of those was the Noel Gallagher Riviera, which was put on clearance.

I snagged a brand new one for the equivalent of $580 a month ago. Fair enough, I wanted one since it's reveal a few years ago as I've been an Oasis fan for as long as I remember, and a few of my favourite bands and artists such as Interpol, Al Caiola, George Benson, The Strokes, SRV and many others got me wrapped around the idea of owning a semi-hollow one day. I'm thankful for the opportunity to play this pretty axe.

Sales season has been up for a week and a half in France now, and the store chain I work at was having a slew of its Epiphone models on clearance. One being this lovely 2025 LP Standard 60s Figured Blueberry Burst that I got shipped from a few hundred miles from me. I already have a 2016 Custom Pro that I adore and was my first real quality guitar and helped me progress tremendously.

On its highest discount (-70%) and with a few vouchers and my employee discount to top it off, I managed to get this brand new model for $160 today. I've been kind of mesmerised by the color on this. It's evocative, alluring, and inspiring in every sense of the word. I've been putting guitar aside for a few months now but adding these two models to my collection (that is much too large for a player as mediocre as me) reignited a fire in me that reminds me of promises and goals I made to myself when I started this journey 8 years ago.

Safe to say, I'm not buying a guitar anytime soon.

Have a good one y'all.

NGD! 1980 Tokai Love Rock “Reborn Old”. My first LP style guitar

I have a very well-renowned rare guitar collector friend who suggested I get this if I wanted a vintage 59 style cherry burst. This is a guy who could identify the correct plate screws on a vintage LP.

I’ve been a Fender guy my whole life. The barrier to entry for Gibson was too high for a working class kid like me. I’m in my 40s now, and I was all too ready to pony up for a used Gibson of similar specs, then he sent me this listing. He said I would not be let down by this guitar - even though he owns multiple OG bursts, this is what he plays out live - and he was right. Received it from Japan for my birthday yesterday and have not stopped playing it since.

This thing practically sings by itself and the sustain never stops. Even the stock pickups sounds great. It is now the best playing guitar I own.

Does anyone know what the “60” stamped into the last fret on the fretboard may mean?
