Light bump. How fix?

Les Paul lightly tapped a granite countertop. I cannot feel it at all so it’s not a divot at all. Maybe just changed how light reflects over it. How is this fixed by a luthier? I don’t want to do it myself.

Edit: lol you guys are awesome (and right)

Flying with a Les Paul

I’m soon moving from California to England and I want to buy a Les Paul standard before I leave, because they are so much cheaper here than in UK.

But I’m worried about the flight. While I can remove the neck from my Strat and pack it across 2 regular suitcases surrounded in clothes, the LP is obviously 1 piece.

I think when I first moved to US from UK 15 years ago I brought my Strat in a soft gig bag as hand luggage in the cabin, but it’s not guaranteed the airline will accept that. So it would need to be checked for the hold.

Buying new, the LP would come with that lovely hard case, but I don’t think that qualifies as a flight case for protection in the cargo hold. I could buy a true flight case, but then I’d lose that original Gibson case.

AI suggests buying a separate seat just for the guitar, but that would more than erase the saving on buying the guitar US vs UK.

I can’t be the first person to navigate this. What do you do?

Birth year les Paul, 1996 LP

1996 Gibson Les Paul Studio, my birth year guitar. Had to get a 90s Gibson since these are considered some of the best Studio years — no frills, just a maple top, mahogany body/neck and 490R/498T pickups. 30 years of real wear and that heavy 90s Gibson sound 🤌🏼 found sitting in a room under a bed since 2003 on FB and paid 500 🔥

Is this a real Epiphone Les Paul model?

Got this guitar for my graduation (I’ve been told the screenshots are not the same as my guitar model but I can’t find the original product I bought anymore), always believed it was fake, and now I want to sell it. Only thing is I’ve never made sure of that. Can someone please let me know if it truly is?

I think it’s fake because I thought I was getting a cherry sunburst with a gloss finish but got this instead and I can’t find any models to match it. Besides the dull wood of the body, the sticker on the back with CHINA on it, the shitty print job all over, the serial number font, the E on the strap, and bad vibes are making me believe it.

Thanks. Images of my guitar included.

In the box it came with:

A mini plastic amp (which I threw away. It was garbage)

A gig bag

A strap

Picks

A manual

A tuner

A guitar-amp cable

Les Paul Goldtop - 50s standard

Hi,

I bought a used (“excellent condition”) LP Goldtop 50s standard with humbuckers. Brought it from a reputable guitar store. The guitar plays really well and it does have a couple very small dings that you have to really look hard to find.

I believe these guitars are supposed to have burstbuckets pickups in them. Something seems off with the pickups. The bridge pickup sounds quite harsh compared to my burstbuckers which are in my 2011 LP VOS 1960s (R0). I lowered the height on the goldtop burstbuckers which helped a little. Another issue is that when I plug the goldtop into my tube screamer (gain and level at 75%, or 3 o’clock) into my Marshall studio classic (jcm 800 20w head) and put the master on the amp at above 3-4 the guitar squeals really badly. Even if I am muting the strings on the guitar and not facing the amp, this guitar squeals when I use the TS infront of the jcm 800 with the amps volume at anyone above 3-4ish.

One thing I noticed with this guitar is that it has locking tuners on the headstock. So whomever sold this guitar to the guitar shop had modified the guitar which was not mentioned on the guitar’s
description on the shop’s website.

I guess my main question is that are these actual stock pickups (burstbuckers) or something else?

Should I return it? Besides the pickup issue the guitars plays very well. Not THAT much different than my R0

Put other pickups in it?

Thanks in advance!

60s Standard in Honey Amber

Bought my first 60s Standard last week in Bourbon Burst. I was in a hurry and was trading in a guitar so I took whatever they had in inventory. When I got home, I noticed it was a 2023 serial number. Later after getting a setup on it, I noticed there was chipped damage where the headstock hangs from the wall hangers. So that guitar was probably “hanging around” being played by grubby peasants for 3 years.

I took it back and got a factory sealed unit shipped overnight in a color I like even more. It plays great and I don’t think it even needs an immediate setup from the pro luthier I use. Action is set correctly. I’m just going to play it.

So I’m out the cost of the setup on the old guitar for being in a hurry but I think it’s well worth it getting a 2 month old guitar where the last person to touch it before me was the QC at the factory.

Wildwood 59 Tribute Pickups

What would a pair of these pickups sell for? I bought a standard 60’s with a custom shop top while knowing that the pickups wouldn’t be my style. They are amazing pickups but the 498T/490R set would be more my style. I haven’t pulled them yet, but I’d like to know if they’d be worth selling and what I should charge for them. Sounds like they are rare to find on their own but I don’t want to charge too much. I’m thinking $300-$350 for the set. $150 per pickup is a normal price for regular pickups I think but these might be more valuable. Not sure.

Can I have my new Les Paul named too? 🤣

I saw another thread earlier and I don’t know if you guys are serious about there being a sub for naming guitars 😂 but…

Would any of you like to give name suggestions for my new (albeit epiphone) Les Paul? Bought it as I love Peter Green, but surely I can’t just go with Greeny?!

Happy Gibsunday (sort of)

I know it doesn’t really count as a Gibson, but this is an older one (2002) and it came with the Gibson truss rod cover, so I think I get half credit.

Finding time to practice has been difficult lately, so now I get up at 4 on weekend to get a couple hours in before everyone else is awake, which has made it even more fun. It feels like I’m getting away with something. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday with whatever guitar makes you smile.

My little Gibson family

Iv owned many Gibsons, my 1st was in 1978.

These instruments are everything I want, except I'm still searching for a P90 (sg or Lp Junior)

  1. 2000 R9

  2. CS 64 SG MURPHY ('2025)

  3. 2016 HUMMINGBIRD VINTAGE

  4. LPj DC bass. My newest guitar (2025 '64 SG reissue) looks the oldest ! ( Murphy Aged).

When my meagre finances will allow, I will add a P90 'something '.

Other than that, I'm sorted!!

1960 Coppertop

I thought you all might appreciate.

I need to replace the pickup switch, it strangely just cracked one day and I found it in the case.

Beautiful guitar though.
