NGD! 50s standard Les Paul

Last week was my first time in the US for a business trip, and my hotel wasn't too far from a guitar centre. We don't really have too many large stores like that where I'm from in India so I decided to venture in.

I'd always been curious about Les Pauls, and saw an amazing one with the cherry sunburst finish. I spent almost two hours just noodling around, and decided to try this one in the tobacco sunburst. It just fit my hand really well and the rest is history.

It came out to 3k with taxes, plus 230 bucks to fly it back home to India (I had to check it in with the case it came with, it actually went really well. Shoutout to Cathay Pacific Airlines). I also got the GC dude to throw in a new set of D'addario xs 10-46s.

Gonna be a massive upgrade over my Squier sonic strat I picked up last year to start learning. Happy Days!

“Greeny” is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, named after its original owner, Peter Green. In 2014, Greeny was acquired by Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett. Belonged to Gary Moore for a while in early 70s. The guitar is known for its unique out-of-phase tone, which is the result of a reversed magnet

My 1959 Reissue that I named “Andromeda”

1959 Reissue made in 2025 Light Aged.

The craziest top I have ever seen online or offline.

My god this guitar leaves me in awe every time I see it.

I got it in Japan used. With my stronger currency and used price it wasn’t too bad.

NGD! Epiphone Les Paul Traditional IV

Bought it off of Sweetwater’s used site, upgraded bridge and the HB’s were replaced with probucker 3

I've been thinking of upgrading my Epiphone Les Paul Studio pickups

For context, the guitar sounds nice, but i mostly play metal, so it gets muddy when using high gain and when playing in drop D. I listened to many pickups and the ones I have in my are the dimarzio super distortion for the bridge and the dimarzio paf pro for the neck. Id like to also have coil split on them for any time Im chasing a different tone, (the epiphone already has split coils on the stock pickups) so in total it would run me about $250 - $300. Is there anything better I could do or a better alternative?

Used 2023 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50’s. 58 years old and after owning many imitations, I finally got the real deal. Black top and mahogany back, it’s beautiful, and plays like a dream.

My ride or die for almost 7 years

First time poster here! I'd seen people posting their guys on here and thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. I bought this 2009 Epiphone Les Paul Special II in 2019 from a pawn shop for around $120. I had mostly just started out, and was stoked to have a Les Paul, even if it wasn't the best out there. Over the years I've, slowly upgraded, repaired and altered it as it aged alongside me. I switched the OG pickups for Wilkinson's after one broke, added a Killswitch to the tone knob, switched to cream p-up rings, added a pickguard (which wasn't easy considering the knob placement) and essentially created a pseudo Ace Frehley style guitar. It plays like a dream, and sounds great too. I'm not sure if I'll ever change anything else out, but who can say what the future holds. I know it might not be a $3,000 Gibson Les Paul, but I wouldn't trade it for the world

Love a Bigsby on my Les Pauls

Never been a big burst guy. I think they look awesome, just never felt right for me. Black and gold is my happy play. R6 and R7.

Worth it for this?

This is near me for $300. Firstly do people even bother faking epiphones? Also which model is it I can’t tell? I’m only a couple months in on learning guitar but obsess with getting a Les Paul and this is all I can afford. Is it worth buying this?

Do you prefer a thick or thin les Paul neck?

So I like to shred but I also like Les Pauls. My first high end Les Paul was an Edwards John Sykes model and the previous owner shaved the neck down. Nice and skinny neck. Took me through college. After collecting a couple more Les Pauls I ended up really enjoying big heavy Les Pauls with thin necks. 7 string LPs too. I never enjoyed the big necks on those IBG epiphones. Also on that JJN Les Paul. The other neck that sticks in my mind is this vintage Gibson firebird I repaired the nut on at my old tech job. That was INSANE.

I ended up buying This edwards gold top with a PHAT neck. It was an online purchase from guitar center so there was no spec info on this 50s baseball bat. I hated it at first. But then I found it someone comfortable in some contexts but unplayable in others. The thing I hate about this guitar is it’s amazing but the neck is the deal breaker. may return it. But this just had me thinking. Who enjoys 50s thick necks and why?

‘59 Reissue “Andromeda” is here!

So I just made a post about my purchase from Japan online. DHL expedited everything for me and It just got in my hands.

It was a wonderful experience buying from Japan, they set up and polished the frets before sending the guitar over. Pickup height and action was perfect, nut is lubricated.

LOOK AT THE BURST THO, is it a quilt or flame or both?

The flames are so dynamic they shift with every small movement. The guitar looks nice and understated indoors but shines tremendously in the sun!

Dumb question about Chrome vs Nickel

Just curious what you would do. Swap hardware to nickel, pup covers to chrome, or let it ride?

NGD(Soon) Just ordered the Best looking R9 I have ever seen.

Hand Selected Top R9 in Poppy Burst

Apparently this was a hand selected top and custom order made in 2025. Somehow appeared in the used section of a Japanese store.

Comes with the sexiest cream and Alnico 4 Custom buckers.

I thought I was done buying guitars for a bit but I couldn’t resist this.

It’s probably reaching me in a couple of days. Can’t wait to share it!

Is it real?

Hi everyone! I'm about to buy my first Gibson Les Paul and I'm a bit nervous. I've seen this one around and was wondering if any of you could tell me if you think it's authentic or if it's a fake. I would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks in advance!

Cool unpainted maple edge (faux binding)

Side shot of the new Les Paul studio. Has the neck binding, and also love how they leave the side of the maple edge unpainted to “replicate” a binding of sorts. Def the nicest studio I’ve owned and played. Really paid attention to detail on this one to give you best bang for buck. The Burstbuckers are chefs kiss

i know this guitar is probably not worthy of this subredit but i still ask for your help

I bought it as my first guitar (i’ve been playing for 15 years and this is the first one that i actually bought with my own money before i just used my fathers) and i didnt want to splurge so i got a second hand epiphone Lp to mess around it maybe modding it a bit and have already done some minor mods to it but next one i have to replace the tuners because i lost two screws and think that these round ones are a bit ugly. so any recommendations??
