When we talk about the League of Legends Hall of Fame, we have to ask one simple question:
What does a player have to accomplish to become immortal?
Is it championships? Longevity? Individual dominance? International success? Or the ability to remain at the top of the game while an entire generation of competitors rises and falls around you?
Because if those are the criteria, then Rasmus “Caps” Winther doesn’t just deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
He deserves to be one of the first names mentioned.
Caps has been competing at the highest level of League of Legends since 2017. And nearly a decade later, he’s still here. Still competing. Still winning. Still producing moments that remind everyone why he became known as one of the greatest Western players of all time.
And his résumé is ridiculous.
Caps is a two-time World Championship finalist, reaching the World Finals in 2018 with Fnatic and again in 2019 with G2 Esports. In 2019, he became the first Western player to reach back-to-back World Championship Finals.
But 2019 wasn’t simply a year where Caps made another deep Worlds run.
It was the year he helped G2 become the most successful Western team of the modern era.
G2 won the 2019 LEC Spring Championship, the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, and the 2019 LEC Summer Championship. And at MSI, Caps wasn’t just along for the ride.
He won MSI MVP.
That tournament was historic. G2 defeated Team Liquid 3–0 in the final, and Caps helped lead a European team to one of the biggest international victories the West had ever seen.
And then there’s the longevity.
Caps has accumulated 17 LEC titles, the most in LEC history according to current Leaguepedia records. He also holds the record for seven LEC Finals MVPs. He became the first player to reach 400 LEC wins, and he’s one of only a handful of players to reach milestones such as 500 and 600 LEC games. (League of Legends Wiki)
Think about that for a second.
Seventeen championships.
Seven Finals MVPs.
Hundreds of professional games.
Nearly a decade competing at the highest level.
And he’s still doing it.
In 2026, Caps is still playing for G2. He helped G2 win the 2026 LEC Spring title, and as recently as August 2026 he was still earning Player of the Series honors in the LEC. (Reddit)
That’s what makes Caps different.
Players can have incredible peaks.
Players can have incredible longevity.
Very few players have both.
Caps has been one of the faces of Western League of Legends through multiple generations of players, multiple versions of the game, multiple metas, and an entirely different competitive landscape.
He has played assassins.
He has played control mages.
He has played marksmen.
He has even temporarily switched roles to bot lane when his team needed him to.
And somehow, through all of those changes, Caps remained Caps.
Aggressive.
Creative.
Fearless.
Sometimes reckless.
But always willing to make the play that other players wouldn’t even attempt.
That’s why the nickname “Claps” became so iconic. When Caps is playing at his absolute best, he doesn’t simply win his lane.
He takes over games.
And perhaps the strongest argument for his Hall of Fame case isn’t even a statistic.
It’s what Caps represents.
For years, the West was told that it couldn’t compete with the LCK and LPL.
Then Caps showed up.
He became a centerpiece of the European teams that challenged the established order. He helped defeat elite international opponents. He reached Worlds Finals twice. He won MSI. And he continued returning to the international stage year after year.
Even today, Caps is still chasing the one trophy that has eluded him:
the Summoner’s Cup.
And ironically, that missing trophy may be the only thing someone could point to when arguing against his Hall of Fame case.
But if winning Worlds were the only requirement for immortality, then we would be measuring players by team achievement alone.
A Hall of Fame should recognize greatness.
And Caps has been great for far too long to ignore.
He is one of the most decorated players in European League of Legends history.
He is one of the most accomplished Western players internationally.
He is the all-time leader in LEC championships.
He owns the record for LEC Finals MVPs.
He has an MSI championship and MSI MVP.
He has reached two World Championship Finals.

So when the question comes up:
“Does Caps deserve to be in the League of Legends Hall of Fame?”
I don’t think the question should be whether Caps has done enough.
The question should be:
How could a Hall of Fame for League of Legends be complete without him?
Because Caps isn’t simply a player who won some trophies.
He is part of the history of competitive League of Legends.
He helped define an era of European League of Legends.
He became the face of G2’s international ambitions.
He challenged the best players in the world.
He survived generation after generation of competition.
And almost ten years into his professional career, he’s still standing on stage, still competing, still winning, and still giving fans a reason to believe that maybe—just maybe—this will finally be the year he completes the story.
That’s a Hall of Famer.
And whether the Summoner’s Cup ever finds its way into Caps’ hands or not, his place in League of Legends history has already been earned.
