It doesn’t matter the season! I think seeing Tyler and Elena interact more could’ve been nice since they are the only two members of the group that were forcibly sired to someone.

She obviously felt alone all the time since at home. Rudy didn’t like what she was and chose a traveling career. Abby left her and grams was there but it wasn’t her job to raise her it was her parents.

If the writing actually wrote both of them better I’d believe Elena had more compassion towards her friend? I’m not saying there’s nothing it’s just the writing had a funny way of showing it.

But I know there’s gonna be an elena fan that says don’t blame her while they blame Bonnie for things that happened per the writing lol

I think it’s nice how we see Bonnie vent abt what happened/on being groomed. We get a decent insight that we’ll Elena can be flawed when it comes to her perception of Damon and even Bonnie sympathized with Stefan’s choice of Rebekah even if she didn’t understand it in the moment

the show would’ve benefited from giving her something darker / more leveled than constantly playing savior for her friends / romances.
