First time ko mapasaya ng stranger

I went to a clinic that wasn’t covered by my HMO. I had a simple doctor’s consultation.

After the check-up, the doctor gave his recommendations and asked about my HMO. I said I was self-pay, so I went to the cashier to settle the bill.

A few minutes later, a nurse came to me and said I didn’t need to pay anymore.

I honestly didn’t expect it. I just stood there for a moment, then felt my eyes well up.

Lately, I’ve been seeing so many harsh things around me—people being unkind, things feeling unfair, and slowly it starts to feel normal. You start thinking maybe that’s just how the world is now.

But today reminded me it’s not always like that.

That doctor didn’t know me at all. I didn’t know him either. But he chose kindness anyway. No announcement, no expectation—just quiet generosity.

It hit me deeply.

To the doctor—thank you. You didn’t just waive a fee. You restored something in me that I didn’t realize I was losing.

Moments like this matter. They stay with people. And I hope I don’t forget this feeling—the feeling of being helped, without asking, without deserving it, just because someone chose to be good.

I want to pass this forward too.
