Aurora Season Begins This Week

I am visiting Fairbanks for a few days, with plans to drive south to Anchorage, and I would love to get a good view of the Aurora.
SpaceWeather.gov gives a prediction model, based on solar activity and local weather, that I am learning to use.
Can you offer some tips on great places to view the aurora between Fairbanks and Denali Park?
Are there any viewing parties or meet-ups?

Overnight Stops Map to AK

Just a FYI for anyone else who likes to see where they've been.

I am a map and data geek.

This summer, I drove my van from Tennessee to Alaska. I boondocked and used free overnight spots the entire way. I normally record my locations each day in my journal, but I get lazy and forget half the time.

When the trip was over, I wanted to recreate exact locations where I stopped each night, but couldn't pinpoint half the locations from memory.

Google Timeline from my phone came to the rescue.

I converted my Timeline data into GeoJSON using Python, and loaded it into QGIS. With QGIS, it was easy to filter the data and isolate the locations where I was between 11 PM and 6 AM each day.

In a few instances, I had to fine-tune the locations manually, but overall, the geolocations were accurate.

Pretty cool that all the data is retrievable from your phone even when you forget where you where.

Jacking at the Differential

I know this has been asked before. I'm reading conflicting opinions about using the differential housing as a jack point.
I am shopping for tires for my 2018 Transit 150. I am running into a problem finding a shop capable of lifting at the recommended rear jack points. This particular tire shop said they can't lift it at the recommended points because my sidestep is in the way.

What's the general consensus of placing a floor jack directly beneath the differential pumpkin?

Tire advice for Alaska trip.

Ford Transit 150 3.7 RWD
Light-Weight Build

I've dreamt about it since I was a kid, and now I'm making final preps to start the drive next week. I am planning to enter Canada through North Dakota with Anchorage as my destination. I will be returning before weather turns bad.

My rear tires are ready to be replaced, and I'm looking for recommendations of the best tires, not only for the trip but also daily driving after I return.

I will mostly stay on the roadways as much as possible, occasionally driving into pulloffs or trailheads. I have no plans to drive over rugged terrain other than what is necessary.

After this trip, I will be using this van for highway driving.

I'm looking at the: Michelin Agilis CrossClimate 2, but I'm open to suggestions from anyone who has made this trip.
