How do I block Brave updates effectively?

I'm not asking for a debate about whether browser updates are "important" I already know they are. That's not the issue.

What I need is a practical way to stop Brave from updating in Windows, even if the steps are ugly, complex, or system-level. If there's a reliable method, that's what I'm looking for.

The reason is simple: the whole "no updates" idea feels fake anyway. Vendors change settings, override preferences, and do whatever they want later. You can spend time configuring a browser carefully, only to have an update come along and undo part of it.

My immediate problem is that Manifest V2 deprecation just broke core extensions I actually use. This is not a theoretical complaint. It's already affecting my setup, and I need to keep the browser stable until this mess settles down.

So please, if you know how to block Brave updates effectively:

-share the method,

-include specific steps,

-and skip the "no updates are dangerous" lecture unless it adds something concrete.

Thanks in advance!
