Fixing a old P1 Silvexa
Last week I bought a non-working P1 Silvexa (~1960). It took a bit of research, patience, and careful tinkering, but I finally got it working again.
The piston was completely seized from years of dried ink. I started by soaking the pen in warm water to soften and dissolve some of the buildup. After that, I applied a little gentle heat and was able to separate the filling unit from the barrel. Once I cleaned everything out, the piston freed up and after adding some grease it started moving smoothly again.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. The pen now fills and writes beautifully. There's something incredibly satisfying about bringing an old fountain pen back to life!
