If I had a nickel every time...

If I had a nickel every time...

Like I know one of the cons when it comes to reading MTL is the mistranslation of pronouns and the occasional misgendering. Usually it doesn't bother me, and my brain understands that the MC is a man and I picture them as a man because the novel is in the danmei category - why would the MC be a woman?

But then, I get subtle (or very obvious) hints that the MC might not be in fact be a man, such as being called girl/sister/miss/lady one, too many times; describing their outfit with skirts and dresses; hanging often with girl groups; going to the girl's bathroom; etc.

The first misplaced novel I read, it took me finishing the entire story to realize that MC is actually a girl, even after she had given birth (I thought it was just mpreg). And now the novel I'm currently reading also has a girl MC despite being in danmei again.

Not like I'm gonna drop it cause it's interesting so far, but yeah, weird that it happened again.

Novels with Codependent Couple? Or at least one of them is an enabler.

Big fan of codependent couple who'd rather stick together 24/7. Like they're always together that side couples would find it weird that they're not together, but it's also kind of funny having them question why MC and ML are always together.

I like novels where they have the option to act independently, but chose not to because why should they? I want them clingy, touch-starved, and will die if not given enough attention.

Of course, it could be just either MC or ML being highly dependent and the other is just an enabler. They don't see the problem with MC/ML sticking to them. Like maybe they'd draw the line somewhere (no killing for modern novels, no going behind their back, etc etc) but most of the time MC/ML have the "they did nothing wrong/well they might have a reason for doing this".

They're not oblivious to their lover's personality/action of course, it's just that love takes a higher priority than common sense.

No harem and no abuse please. MTL is fine - the more the merrier.
