Where to go from here? Need opinions/advice.
TMo 5G Home Internet customer since 2022.
Immediately bought GL-X3000 instead of using TMo modem.
Later got 1Gbps cable for a good promo price ($45), was using 5G Home internet as failover in the GL-X3000. I WFH so it is important to have a backup.
Had 2Gbps T-Mobile fiber installed on June 1 (Lumos). It is not bad, most of my equipment is 1Gbps compatible, but for $10 extra per month, 1 free month, and $100 gift card, why not? My latency averages around 25-30ms though. I play Xbox multiplayer, NAT is open with ports forwarded.
5G Home Internet plan was $30, converted to free home internet backup. So cable was $45, 5G was $30, so saving $5 with 2Gbps fiber, locked in for 5-10 years, can't remember.
They gave me the Calix Gigablast U6txg ONT/Router during installation. I disabled WiFi, I have 2x hardwired eero 6 pro in bridge mode connected through the GL-X3000.
I have read that I can call the fiber support line and request the Calix be put into bridge mode, or request the Nokia XS-010X-Q.
But can I just buy a new Nokia XS-010X-Q from eBay for $25 and save an hour or two on the phone?
Edit: I should know better since I had to use the KVD-21 details to use the SIM in the GL-X3000. I probably wouldn't be able to simply swap a non-T-Mobile ONT.
Next, is there any benefit to requesting the static ip address? Will my latency improve at all? If yes can I call and request the static ip and bridge mode on the Calix or the Nokia?
Thanks for reading and any advice you can provide.
