Hot air from top and down vents, heater control valve electrical issue
Hello guys i have the hot air from vents issue that i see is somewhat popular, the heater control valve is stuck open letting hot coolant circulate. The car is an 320 cabrio diesel e46 from 2005.
I have replaced the Heater Control Valve assembly with a new one, i inspected the old one and it seems to be mechanically fine so i started looking for electrical problems. Turns out my valve doesn't get 12v on the wire.
The Auxiliary Pump does get 12v, only the plunger part doesn't. I looked at the IHKA panel to see which wires correspond to which pins, i tried a continuity test and everything seems fine, also no resistance on the wire, i checked the connectors they are fine.. I have 12v at the 62 fuse which i was told it's related to the valve. I swapped the IHKA with one from a scrapyard thinking the panel might not send power but the problem persists.
The 12v wire that powers the auxiliary pump and the one that powers the valve have the same red-grayish color, looking at the back of the IHKA panel there is only one wire with that color, i think it has to be one wire that splits into two, one for each connector, somewhere along the way and maybe that's where one of the wires is faulty.
Before i proceed in taking the whole car apart to search for that wire splice, i would like to know if anybody ever had similar problems, if anybody knows exactly where that wire should split or if im missing something and looking in the wrong direction. I have to specify that i never had any electrical problems, the wires all look good, where i can see them of course, and i am very surprised to see this happening that's why i feel like it could be some other cause that im not aware of.
