Accidentally spooked my Messor Barbarus colony while doing my regular bi-weekly maintenance on their formicarium (water, proteins, seeds, checking outworld etc). It was so sad - and a little fascinating - watching them try to move a huge pile of brood in panic as I guess they thought they were in danger.

So my question is, is it worth adding on a small extension onto their formicarium specifically to provide their water, food etc? If so, any recommendations as to which extension to use? And what is the likelihood that they would enjoy said extension and try to move in, therefore defeating the point of adding it? I would like to cause them as little stress as possible.
