Help - 1x or 2x Road Cycling - Total beginner

Hi All

Hopefully everyone can help settle a debate I'm having with myself.

I'm looking at getting either of the following next week;

CUBE NUROAD Pro 1x11 (40t x 11/50) £1199

Or

CUBE NUROAD Race 2x12 (48/31 x 11/36) £1499

The Nuroad Pro appeals due to the simplicity of the 1by and slightly lighter than the Race, also it's good chunk cheaper. However my concern is will the jumps between gears make finding a decent cadence more difficult for a total beginner to road cycling.

I've decided on these two as although my riding will be 90% road, there will be time where I will hit the canal towpath and bridle ways which are all hard pack. Terrain near me is rolling so some steep climbs and few long straights (Yorkshire Dales).

I would also like to join group rides once my fitness improves.

My gut tells me as a total beginner the 1x11 will be more than adequate and more than enough bike until my fitness greatly improves.

Am I over thinking this and gone mad???

Advice Needed - What bike for my needs.

Hi All

Hopefully I've posted this in the right place.

I am looking at getting my first drop bar bike and I'm stuck on whether I need a gravel bike or road bike. My use case will be 90% road and 10% gravel, riding for fitness and most likely solo for the foreseeable. I live in quite a hilly terrain, so most roads are rolling.

The gravel near me is just hard pack bridle ways and canal toe paths.

I'm looking at the Ribble All Road AL with tiagra or the Orbea Terra H40 with cues.

I'm thinking the Ribble will be enough with some 38c semi slick gravel tires as that's max clearance, but the Terra H40 can run up to 50mm, so could go semi slick 40s.

Both run compact drive train 2x10.

I have access to a full sus and HT MTB, so gravel use will never be more than hard pack trails.

Sorry for the long post.

Cube Nuroad EX is it right for my needs.

Hi all,

I am looking at getting my first road/Gravel bike and so far settled on the Nuroad EX 2026.

This is a 1x12 40t 10/51. My question really is will this setup work for 70/30 usage, road being the majority of use while I get to gravel tracks.

I live in quite a hilly area if this makes a difference, with flat open stretches few and far between.

Tia
