So I have one misdemeanor charge from 2024 on my background check, in a completely different state, for “Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle” aka Joy riding. When idk why I was ever found guilty for this anyway?!? Because the person I was in the car with drove for Lyft and rented the car. They were behind on their payments and the car had been reported stolen. Which I was totally unaware of!! We had drove to Kentucky to the UK football game and I had just gotten into the driver seat to drive the last 30 minutes because the driver was getting sleepy! So getting off the exit , I was pulled over by the time we arrived to the stadium and was taken to jail! I was initially charged with “Receiving stolen property over $10,000” once it was proved in court that the other party was responsible for the rental and the payments for it, it was then dropped down to a misdemeanor, joy riding. They still charged me with it Im assuming because I was driving ?! The DA tried accusing me of “knowing it was stolen or behind on payment” ignorance. So I applied for uber and was denied . Background check said “consider” for having a seatbelt ticket 10 years ago and this f****d up misdemeanor!! But I’ve read that tons of people who have had multiple things on their background and still got approved?! This is so frustrating!!
