Chrome acting unstable across apps after update (no “Aw, Snap” error)

Hi all,

I’m trying to work out whether anyone else is experiencing this particular issue with Chrome after the recent update, because it’s making it really difficult to get uni work done.

Over the last few days, some of the issues I’ve had (but not limited to):

  • Teams meetings kicking me out and reconnecting over + over
  • Claude AI is saying requests are “taking longer than usual”, so wasting tokens there and not able to use it for work etc.
  • Google Docs is constantly telling me I’m offline and unable to sync changes while working on a large master doc with tabs, etc. - cannot copy and paste anything, AT ALL.
  • General internet lags with websites like YouTube, etc

The strange part is it’s happening at home, work, and university, so I don’t think it’s actually my internet. I’ve already tried the usual fixes on my Mac like clearing cache/cookies, forgetting networks etc.

I’ve seen all the posts here about people getting the “Aw, Snap!” crashes after the recent Chrome update, but mine seems slightly different because Chrome never fully crashes. Everything just feels unstable and half-working instead.

Is anyone else experiencing this version of the issue, and does anyone know if Google/Chrome has acknowledged it or given any indication of when it might be fixed? Or should I just give up on Chrome and move to another web browser as I'm in the thick of exam season right now.

Thanks!
