Hi! Looking for opinions on the timeline my planner created for our reception. I’m having a little bit of regret about the timing we chose for cocktail hour / reception. I love the dancing part of weddings the most and I wish I had planned things earlier to have more than 2 hours of dancing for my own wedding. The reception space has to be flipped before dancing so the time that takes up is unavoidable, but I’m wondering if dinner should/can be accelerated to get more dancing time. We have 120 guests and plated meals.
Questions:
Will 2 hours feel short for dancing?
Is nearly 2 hrs for dinner necessary?
Is the serving timeline a little crazy? I’m just worried about people sitting for so long with not much happening. If you’re someone who gets your salad course at 7:00 and then you don’t get your entree until 8:00 and you have 20 minutes to eat it, I feel like that’s not a great experience
Timeline:
Cocktail hour (separate area at the venue) - 5:30-6:30
Move to reception space and take seats at dinner - 6:30-6:45
First course serve out - 6:45-7:00
Clear first course - 7:20-7:30
Entree serve out - 7:40-8:00
Move to separate area for room flip - 8:20
Desserts + cake cutting + speeches - 8:25-8:55
Special dances - 9:00-9:05
Dance set - until 11PM
