[Urgent] NCB notice under section 67 NDPS act
Hi everyone, I’m from Uttar Pradesh and my family received a notice from the NCB Kolkata Zonal Unit under Section 67(c) of the NDPS Act. The notice says they are investigating a seizure of around 5.9 kg “ganja/cannabis plants” in Kolkata and they want me to appear before them.
The problem is:
I have absolutely no knowledge of this parcel/seizure.
I have never been involved in anything related to drugs or narcotics ever before.
I don’t know how my name/address got linked to this case.
The seizure apparently happened in Kolkata, while I was in my hometown recovering from a major accident.
Important medical background:
On 11 February, I met with a serious accident and suffered a right femur fracture.
A rod/nail was inserted in my femur during surgery.
I was on strict bed rest for nearly 3 months and could barely get out of bed.
I have all medical documents: discharge summaries, operation records, prescriptions, follow-up papers, doctor advice, etc.
The notice date is recent, but during the period mentioned in the case I was bedridden.
I have a few questions:
1.Should I immediately hire a criminal lawyer experienced in NDPS matters before replying or appearing?
2.Is it better to send a written reply first with medical records explaining I was bedridden???
3.Since I genuinely have no idea about the parcel, what precautions should I take before speaking to NCB officers?
4.Could this be identity misuse/address misuse/scam parcel situation?
I’m extremely stressed because I’ve never dealt with police or legal matters before. Any guidance from lawyers or people experienced with NDPS cases would really help.
