I'm working on a polished GBC emulator for Android (looking for feedback before launch)
Hey everyone,
I've been working on a Game Boy Color emulator for Android called Perfectly GBC. It's still not fully finished yet, but it's getting close to release and I wanted to get feedback from people actually into emulation/retro gaming before I publish it.
The goal wasn't just to make "another emulator", but something that feels polished and comfortable to actually use on a phone long term.
Current features so far:
* Landscape + vertical layouts
* Fully draggable/resizable touch controls
* Controller support
* Save states + quick saves
* Import/export saves
* Regular .sav compatibility
* Auto-save system
* Resume exactly where you left off
* Fast forward speeds
* ROM browser with recent ROMs
* Bluetooth link cable support for multiplayer/trading
* Different layout persistence depending on orientation
* In-game restart with save reload
* Proper Android back navigation support
* Clean ROM filtering/loading system
I'm also planning 2 versions:
Perfectly GBC Lite (free)
* Startup ad when opening the app
* Small banner ad in menus only
* No gameplay ads
* Some advanced features locked
Perfectly GBC (paid)
* No ads
* All features unlocked
The Lite version currently locks:
* x3/x4 fast forward
* advanced save slots
* cheat codes
* Bluetooth link cable
* auto-save timer customization
I'm trying really hard to keep the monetization non-invasive because honestly I hate how aggressive some emulator apps became on mobile.
Do you think this ad setup sounds reasonable, or still too invasive?
Also:
what features do you think are MUST-HAVE for a modern mobile emulator before release?
And after this project, what emulator would you personally want to see next?
* GBA?
* DS?
* PSP?
* Something else?
Would genuinely love feedback/advice from emulator users before launch.
