So my last few years have been a whirlwind with employment. I was an Executive assistant for several years and moved to a company with the absolute worst culture. I decided to leave after a year and a half when other people in my department were doing things like locking me out of accounts or hiding materials for meetings and events to make me look bad. I moved to a non profit that was just as bad but for different reasons. The executive I supported and I had very different working styles and they tried to terminate my employment with a 30 day notice. In all honesty, I ultimately walked out and they gave me a small severance to not sue for unemployment. I’m not proud at all of how I handled it, and still get scared I may apply for a job and interview with someone who knows someone from my old work. I then was at a construction company with much lower pay but I absolutely loved the culture and what I was doing! I was a field clerk, and I got to use my skills in admin but support homeowners and a construction crew instead of insane executives. But they filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2025 and I was once again left jobless. It’s now the tail end of April 2026, and I’m really struggling to find work in a way I never have before. I’m terrified of going back to be an executive assistant, but even those jobs are few and far between.

Does anyone have some practical advice on navigating the 2026 career crisis? Thanks!

Something that always sticks in the back of my head is the therapist who testified against the Menendez brothers. It’s my understanding that it was a total breach of confidentiality, but how do you help someone work through those emotions? I understand if you can’t talk about a specific client, but do therapists get training on how to have these discussions?

On a side note, can child predators be rehabilitated? I’m having a hard time finding research on that one.

This should go without saying but not asking these questions as it relates to me! It’s a huge true crime fan and deeply curious on how these complex situations are worked through.
