What just happened?
I joined a section meeting with our section mate, my crew co-leader, and randomly, another mate (a.m.) outside in the back where our store is across from a school, where children were currently out playing. A.m. is sitting there with their phone, telling us about a man in a car, we can see from where our meeting is, who has been spotted frequenting the area during this time when the children are out. I suggested they call the police or call the school, but a.m. proceeded to brush those suggestions off and led section mate and co-lead in inappropriate and gross and explicit comments speculating what the the man may be up to. After being very uncomfortable I spoke loudly saying, "this is a work meeting." To which our section mate, after participating by commenting and laughing, said, " Well good for you for speaking up." When the man pulled out of his parking space, I suggested a.m. take down the plate number, they reply, "No, i have to talk to Captain and he isn't here." So it was like they just wanted an excuse to have an inappropriate conversation. Here’s the thing, I am really grossed out but do not feel safe from retaliation to bring it to my captain. It happened month ago, too, so the longer it goes, the more dumb I feel for not speaking up. I am so disappointed. And the TJ's gig is really one I would like to hold onto. I feel powerless. Ughhhh. Does anyone have any success stories in reporting something like this?
