Should I become an engineer or a technician?
For starters, I'm 17 (F) and finished high-school early this year. I'm currently waiting for my application results to university and I'm torn between becoming an engineer or a technician.
To give you some info, I did pretty decent on my final exams, not extremely good but it's higher than average.
I don't really have a "dream job" my only reason for wanting a job is primarily because I want to make enough money to live comfortably while supporting my family.
I'm actually leaning more towards being an engineer due to the higher salary however it takes around 4-5 years of studies to be qualified and I just don't have time to study for that long.
My parents are in their 50s and are going to reach the age of retirement in a few years, I have a little brother who hasn't even started middle school, and my sister is planning to do her own business so I don't want to burden her by studying for so long and leaving her to provide for the family.
I'm just really torn right now because I don't know which career is the right path for me, I really want to earn a high salary but I don't want to burden my family in the process.
Any advice on which path to choose will be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
