I got accepted into APU a few days ago, and easily meet the Sunway eligibility requirements, wanna do Bsc (cyber) If APU, network and security if Sunway. I heard APU is the cyber specific university and a shit load of companies come there for employment, BUT not for cyber roles, as cyber roles need exp, so does it make any difference between to join sunway or APU as u wont be getting cyber jobs anyway, im now leaning towards Sunway as i have a comptia security+, CCNA and knows how to use SIEM and SOC tier 1 skills. so i have the pedigree, but which uni to enroll for cyber roles. now ik that apu has bad rep and stuff for management but good rep for cyber, i can manage that, ill study myself only let it be anywhere.
Am i reading this wrong or does Taylors charge almost 3k for submitting an application????? Or is it for reserving seat AFTER applying to the uni. I am an international student btw looking to apply for mech eng bachelor. Should I apply now, i dont wanna waste my time if the chances of getting in is low and if the application fee is actually that high 😭
I got 7A*2A in my Edexcel IGCSEs and AAB in my AS btw
so like u get an idea of my academic position or whatever
I have refrained from posting this due to the fear of it violating the promotion rules (mods, do let me know if this is against the rules, I will take it down), but some time ago, I made a peer tutoring platform specifically aimed towards Malaysian university students after witnessing my own classmates struggle through their academics with barely anybody there to help them, not even AI was able to. It's called IntraTutor. (Web App: https://app.intratutor.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/intratutor/)
It's a platform where university students or graduates/alumni such as you and me can offer to become peer tutors to other university students, or seek out tutoring from other university students, even from the same university as yourself, whom understands your specific university's syllabus content and nuances better than external tutors or AI (whose effects many universities are seemingly trying to curb as we speak).
It's a simple web application that works as a marketplace for tutoring services, and also as a quest board to put up tutoring requests for subjects you're struggling with, hoping that a tutor will pick it up, it started out as my university final year project (which didn't allow me to use the fancy libraries and frameworks) and paired with my poor aesthetic sense, I apologise in advance if the site looks a bit ugly. The Instagram account delves into topics and problems relevant with unviersity student's day-to-day life, frustrations, doubts, and other relevant topics, and attempts to answer those questions in a way that can help university students suffering from those problems, sometimes it's lighthearted memes instead.
In an era where such marketplaces easily take 25%-35% of each transaction value to maximise their profit, we only take 10% from the 4th class onwards, with the first 3 classes exempt from it, and we pay for the processing fees out of our own pocket. Unfortunately, this is all we can afford to offer as a small sign-up bonus with our limited cash buffer. The purpose of the 10% commission cut is not for profit, but just hoping to at least break even on the infrastructure and computing cost of running this platform to begin with.
My dream is for one day, a world where learning is cooperative and collaborative can be made, rather than competitive, where academic comparison becomes the theft of everyone's joy. I want a world where university students can get the academic help they need without feeling lost or alone in their battles. I want to make higher education an enjoyable and rewarding process that one enjoys, not a dreadful one that we struggle and endure through. I hope what I made is at least a tiny step in this direction.
I have seen not just one, but more than a couple of my own classmates drop out of the programme just 1 semester into their studies, because they failed subjects where nobody was there to help them with, which was very sad for me to see. As for me, there is just so much I can do myself; I do not have the time to help everyone around me in their studies, nor can I help those whose major I did not study. Now that I have graduated, I have lost the ability to help even those I could, for I have no way to reach them. I do not wish to subject that to anyone who's working hard in their studies right now and into the future. I want to support them the only way I know, by cultivating more people to become peer tutors like how I did for my own classmates back then.
The site itself is currently in the red, losing money since its inception and not creating enough traffic or revenue to even break even on its cloud computing costs that I'm paying out of my pocket every month, with social media traction practically invisible. We're not a VC-backed startup, far from it, nor is me and my 2 other team members come from affluent backgrounds to keep this going forever, we're also occupied with our day jobs and commitments; without the money to burn, we don't have that much money to spend on the development, maintenance, or marketing either, if this stagnant state goes on, we might have no choice but to stop this thing entirely and let it rest in peace forever.
If this is something you think university students will need, it would be great if you could support us by following our Instagram page, or even sign up and become our tutor.
If there are any questions about this, or if you encountered any problems, bugs, issues, or whatever, do not hesitate to contact me by any means necessary. Whether it's email, Reddit DMs, Instagram DMs, anything, even comments on this post, I will read everything and get back to you at my earliest convenience.
Hihi I’m an international student who applied for their Bsc psych program in September. I’m already dreading making new friends irl, I’m very very shy lol, if there’s anyone on the same page as me I’d love to talk before I land in Malaysia!
Hi, wanted to ask those under fasa 1 of the pertukaran(PIDN batch 2025), that already graduated, May I know what was the process of changing to the PBU akademik, any tips or anything need to prepare before?
Thanks in advanced
Just landed a remote robotics simulation job in China (16k RMB / ~RM9k) fresh out of grad school — but already anxious about what comes next
So I just got a remote Robotics Simulation Engineer role with a Chinese company. Pay is decent for a fresh grad (16k RMB, roughly RM9k), the work is relevant — Isaac Sim, ROS2, that kind of stuff — and honestly I'm stoked about it.
But here's the thing that's been eating at me: what happens when I eventually part ways with this company?
I've been browsing Jobstreet, LinkedIn, and a few other platforms for robotics/simulation roles in Malaysia and I can count the relevant postings on one hand — maybe 1 or 2 at any given time. It doesn't seem like there's a real market here yet for this kind of skillset.
One of my biggest concerns is the salary ceiling. I'm starting out at RM9k, which is already above average for a fresh grad here. But the average engineering salary in Malaysia hovers around RM5-5.5k. So if I ever have to "come back" to the local market — whether by choice or circumstance — am I just going to take a massive pay cut? How do engineers with niche, internationally-relevant skills actually grow their income here, when the local benchmark is so low to begin with? Is the ceiling just... RM8-10k and you're stuck there unless you go into management?
Some other things I'm genuinely unsure about:
- Is Malaysia realistically going to transition into R&D-heavy robotics in the near future, or are we still decades away?
- For engineers who went deep into niche simulation/controls work — what did you pivot to when the local market didn't have demand?
- Is the play to just keep working remotely for overseas companies indefinitely? Singapore? China? EU?
- Or do you retool into something more "marketable" locally — like automation, manufacturing engineering, or even software?
Would love to hear from seniors or experienced engineers, especially Malaysians or anyone who's navigated a similar situation. Just want an honest chat about the realistic outlook — not looking for sugarcoating.
TL;DR — Niche robotics sim job in China is great for now, but the Malaysian job market for this seems nearly nonexistent, and the salary ceiling looks depressingly low. What's the long game here?
Hii, I would just like to like to ask what would be the dress code requirement for international students, I am about to go on a summer internship program this June☺️☺️

Hey people, just wanted to ask if I had failed maths t for sem 1 and sem 2 but got C- for sem 3, will my overall be F as well? Or will I be able to pass?
I'm planning on taking an illustration diploma from the sunway branch and I'm coming from the UAE, I saw their student work showcases and the skill levels but what freaked me out is how much people are talking about how BAD the uni is when it comes to your sanity. Apparently alot of people drop out from there.
I've been an artist for 5 years and have a basic grasp, so looking to further my skills I don't know if this is the right move.
I'm b40 and already started my semester and my course is diploma IT.I just want some opinions from senior🙏🙏🙏
I was wondering, can I take STPM aliran sastera(Ekonomi, Perniagaan and etc) if I only take 6 subject(Subjek teras) in my SPM?
