Is this an okay speech? We were asked to keep it short, as a lot of people are speaking. I also don’t know groom very well personally, I’ve only met him a couple times.
Hello everyone, my name is [me] and I am [bride]’s maid of honor. We met when we were young teens, but I’ve always felt like, in a sense, we grew up together. We met at [redacted] and became two peas in a pod almost instantly. One of my favorite things about [bride], and what I think drew me so
close to her, is the way she put her all into the things she cares about, even when she was younger. For a long time we had a shared passion for [redacted] and I always admired her dedication and hard work. As we got older and our interests shifted, I got to see throw herself into and excel in other areas of her life like [redacted] or the various jobs she worked. As I watched her pursuits change over time, I also got to witness her perspectives transform. For a long time, [bride] would laugh at the thought of one day getting married, and I think she stood pretty firm in this stance… that was until she met [groom]. One day, relatively early on in their relationship, I got a text from her that said “can I say something that might be delusional?” And of course, I replied, “always” she said (quote) “I think [groom] and I are going to work out. Like long term for real”. and to be honest, I had no reason not to believe her. I hadn’t yet met him at this point, but I trust her judgment and had only ever heard good things. And that still holds true today. Every word that comes out her mouth about him has been positive. When I see [bride] talk about her future with him, it’s with an excitement that I hadn’t seen from her before. [groom] brought out a softer and even more passionate side of her and that was the most beautiful thing to witness. In the same way that I’ve gotten to see [bride] give her all in her personal pursuits, I have gotten to see her dedicate herself to building a life with someone who I know loves her and cares for her. [groom], thank you for showing [bride] the love she deserves. Take good care of her. I hope you have as much fun growing old with her as I did growing up along side her. I cannot wait to see what you two do together and what the future has in store. Congratulations.
