UK New User Experience
I thought I would share my experience of trying to open a Crunchyroll account from the UK.
First of all, the new account page would not recognise/accept my email address. A bit of googling suggests they will not accept any existing email address? Surely that cannot be true? But I use a made-up email and it works. WTF.
Now I try to verify that email address. Fortunately I used an email domain I own so I can now create that email address. Great. But no matter how many times I press the "Verify" link no email gets sent. Not in spam, not blocked by provider. Who knows what is going on here?
Next I try to subscribe. Put in my card details, get a text from bank, verify, it fails. Try again, fails. Try Pay Pal (I hate paypal), it fails. I contact my bank, are you blocking overseas payments? They have done that before. No, it seem Crunchyroll is saying one amount, but when they attempt to take the payment they are asking for a different amount. Automatically declined. Is this tax? Is this the free trial? I try skipping the trial and going straight to subscription, same result.
So completely unusable service. How is this making any money?
Then remembered I have an Amazon account. One click subscription.
