Pitzer recruiting questions
Hi, newly admitted Pitzer student here, interested in a career in finance or consulting. I’m considering Pitzer seriously because of the 5C Consortium - shared career services, cross-registration at CMC and Pomona, access to the Robert Day program, a shared alumni network with all 5C colleges, etc.
But I’m kinda getting mixed signals from Reddit and WSO. On one side, people say that being at Pitzer (as opposed to, say, CMC) doesn’t matter that much because you have access to the same resources, and employers treat all 5C students as the same. On the other hand, I’ve also seen people say that Pitzer kinda sits at the bottom of the stack for finance recruiting, and that schools like CMC and Pomona are viewed differently than Pitzer at the resume screening stage.
For people who’ve actually gone through recruiting from any of the 5Cs (especially the less finance-oriented colleges like Pitzer or Scripps):
Were the CMC resources like the finance clubs, recruiting events, and Robert Day network genuinely accessible - or were there practical barriers?
Is the “all 5C colleges are treated the same” claim accurate during recruiting? Or did employers and/or alumni’s treat Pitzer separately from target schools like CMC and Pomona?
Have you met any Pitzer students who went through the recruiting process at investment banks and top consulting firms, and what was it like?
For IB/consulting recruiting specifically, how does Pitzer compare to target schools like CMC and Pomona?
Thanks!
